Isla Canela offers something special for everyone. The salt marshes that surround the Island are a nature reserve for birds (flamingos, herons, eagles, etc) housing over 3000 different species that stop over on their migration. Our location, just across the river (Guadiana river) from the Portuguese Algarve, gives you the opportunity to spend days out in Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal, just a river ferry crossing that takes 15 minutes without the need of a car. You can experience 2 countries in one location. The nearest international airport to us is Faro in Portugal, a 50 minutes drive on the motorway. The beautiful town of Ayamonte is the only link with the island over a bridge only 7km (4.5miles) away. Ayamonte is typical Spanish town with orange blossom squares surrounded by coffee shops, bars, restaurants, boutiques, tapas bars, etc. The population is approx.. 20.000 people, a middle size town with all services.

Isla Canela leisure marina, offers sailing courses all year round for children and adults, canoeing trips on the marshes canals, boat trips around the island and a commercial area where you can find restaurants, pubs, shops, etc. There are also several beach bars around the Island where you can sample the local specialities along the 7km (4.4miles) of blue flag white sandy beaches, rated as some of the best beaches in Spain. For something a bit more relaxed, there are 6 luxury hotels in the Island, with evening live entertainment, Spa centres, etc, and there is more…the wonderful city of Seville is only 150km (93 miles). From here you can take the high speed train (AVE) to Madrid, a 2 hour journey.

We offer a VIP service for clients. You will be collected at Faro Airport by a private Chauffeur and taken to our 4 star Isla Canela Golf Hotel, where we can accommodate you for 2 nights at a very special rate of 70Euros/night on half board accommodation, while we show you the properties and the Island. We´ll take you on a boat tour around the Island (weather permitting) to give you a different perspective of the surroundings and show you the local town of Ayamonte. If you purchase with us, we will refund your hotel expenses. You will have to pay for your flight to Faro.
